Olds Trombone, Serial #1970 One of his early ones, VERY nice" is in sale since Friday, February 7, 2020. Photos show details Questions and comments welcomed. There are 3 attachments inside please see pics. The case itself is still strong with the latches and body of case in sound condition. To my touch this seems very light in weight. I believe this is nickle silver because of how this has aged. While not as fast a slide as the Super, or more modern chrome plated inner slides, it is still quite playable, and a collector horn.
#F.e. olds cornet serial serial number
If this horn has the serial number of 1970 on the slide, bell, or water key, it is one of the first 2000 horns produced in LA. After WWII they moved the factory to Fullerton, CA. Later he expanded his line to other brass and woodwind horns. Olds moved to Los Angeles and set up shop there making trombones in the early 1900's. Oldest ones have F E Olds on the bell, while later models list F E Olds and Son.

These were made from about 1912, which is marked as a patent date on the horn bell, and went to the early 1930's. This was sent to me and will give a much better definition of the instrument.

One tiny ding in the bell and front curve. If you know what this is I'd appreciate your input. I've been told this might be older than the 1920 as a super olds would have a fluted slide tube and there is no tuning located on slide and one located around the outside of the bell.
